Number One Baby Names
The elite category of baby names that have reached the pinnacle of popularity in the U.S. is quite exclusive. Since 1880, the inception of American baby naming records, only 16 names have achieved the Number One spot, with David and Ashley making brief appearances—David for just one year and Ashley for two. Currently, the leading name for girls is Emma, which took over from Sophia in 2014.
